Don't Fall For The Great (Alien UFO) Deception

When Jesus' disciples asked him about what the end times would be like before Jesus' second coming, the very first thing Jesus said was "Watch out that no one deceives you" (Matthew 24:4, NIV).

In context, Jesus was warning about a person that end-times scholars refer to as the Antichrist, who will attempt to impersonate Jesus. The Antichrist will claim to be the Messiah and even claim to be God (Matthew 24:4-5, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4), although he will actually be empowered by Satan (Revelation 13:4).

The Antichrist will be backed up by the False Prophet who will do many impressive but deceptive 'miracles' as a way to support the Antichrist's claims. The False Prophet will even be able to make fire come down from the sky, much like the prophet Elijah's famous miracle which distinguished the true God from a false god (Revelation 13:13-14, 2 Thessalonians 2:9, 1 Kings 18:38-39).

The Antichrist will also appear to be killed by a sword and come back to life, thereby faking a 'resurrection' that will appear to verify his claim to be God (Revelation 13:3-4), just as Jesus' real resurrection proved that he truly was the Son of God (Romans 1:4). The Antichrist will also be the only one who is able to kill God's two witnesses that will be prophesying in Jerusalem, who will be otherwise invincible (Revelation 11:3-7).

This is all going to be so impressive that if it weren't for the Holy Spirit's divine influence, even the people who will believe in Jesus during the Tribulation would be deceived (Matthew 24:24). The rest of the world's people will be duped into worshiping the Antichrist (Revelation 13:8), and into taking the Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13:16-18), which will condemn them to eternal punishment (Revelation 14:9-11).

Although the Antichrist's claim to be God will be the peak of this great deception, and will likely occur about halfway through the seven-year Tribulation (Revelation 11:3-13, 13:3-5), I believe that in some sense this deception has already started.

How?

Because the very first lie the Antichrist will need to convince the world of once he comes to power will be to explain away how millions or even billions of people suddenly disappeared in an event that Christians refer to as the Rapture.

The Need for a False Explanation for the Rapture

After all, when all true Christians and all of the world's children are taken to heaven in the Rapture before the Tribulation begins, the people who are left behind on Earth will be more than a little concerned. Most likely, they will be in full-blown panic mode.

Hopefully, a large number of people who heard about the Rapture ahead of time will immediately drop to their knees and believe in Jesus once it happens. These people will have just seen a very powerful sign that confirms the truth of everything their Christian friends or family had told them about God, Jesus, the gospel, and the end times.

Many people who had previously called themselves Christian but who had never actually put their faith in Jesus will hopefully also wake up and truly trust in Jesus alone for eternal life, not their religious rituals, or their baptisms, or their church denomination, or their own good deeds, or whatever else they had previously trusted.

When put together, these two groups could explain how the Bible says that there will be a truly massive number of new Christians on Earth during the Tribulation, although many of them will end up having to die for their faith (Revelation 7:9-17, 12:17, 13:7, 20:4).

However, the Antichrist will not want to publicly admit that the Rapture just happened, precisely because it would be such a powerful testimony about the truth of Christianity.

Now, there is a theory that the Antichrist will claim that he has come to save the world and that as a first step, he was the one who caused all those 'bad' people to suddenly disappear, leaving behind only 'good' people. But I don't believe this would be the most convincing lie, because it doesn't explain why the children would also have disappeared.

There would also be no evidence which could prove that what the Antichrist claimed was actually true. Was it really because of the Antichrist, or was it because of Bob from Timbuktu who also claims to have mystical powers? There would be no way to prove it one way or the other.

So instead, many end-times commentators and scholars believe that the Antichrist will give a different false explanation for the Rapture. And actually, our society has already been prepared for decades to believe this false explanation.

What will this explanation be? That the Rapture was a mass alien abduction.

The Fictional Setup For A Mass Alien Abduction Deception

Ever since the famous 1938 radio broadcast by Orson Welles of H.G. Wells' fictional story "War of the Worlds" caused a panic about an alien invasion, the idea of intelligent alien life existing on other planets and even visiting Earth has become a staple of science-fiction stories. Many of these stories speculate about how humanity might interact with aliens and the advanced technology these aliens might possess.

In many well-known sci-fi stories, aliens (or humanity in cooperation with aliens) have invented fantastical technology to transport people to and from their spaceships.

In the older stories, this technology could appear as a beam of light that shines down from the ship and causes people to float upwards into the spacecraft. But in newer stories, this technology is depicted as being able to make someone almost instantly disappear and reappear on a spacecraft (or in some other location). The special effects in these shows typically portray the teleported person's body as either glowing, sparkling, or being surrounded by light, until they suddenly disappear.

Now, no one knows exactly how the Rapture will appear when it occurs. Some fictional portrayals of the Rapture depict Christians instantly vanishing while leaving behind no-longer-needed items of clothing, pacemakers, hearing aids, glasses, dentures, and so forth.

But it should be noted that although the Bible says that raptured Christians' bodily transformation from mortal to immortal will be instantaneous (1 Corinthians 15:52), the Rapture itself could be a longer process which actually allows the people of the world to see Christians rising up into the clouds to meet Jesus in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

So it seems that no matter how the Rapture happens, science fiction has prepared left-behind people to accept the possibility that people could either instantly disappear as they are teleported away, or that they could float upward as they are vacuumed up into alien motherships, all thanks to advanced alien technology.

Previously, the only instances of this sort of teleportation were recorded in Scripture, and were clearly attributed to God's miraculous intervention.

For example, after his resurrection, Jesus was able to suddenly appear inside a room with locked doors (John 20:19, 20:26), and Jesus also physically ascended into the clouds when he went back to heaven (Acts 1:9-11). The Apostle Philip was instantly teleported from one place to another (Acts 8:39-40), and in the Old Testament, the prophet Elijah was taken to heaven by ascending in a fiery chariot (2 Kings 2:11).

So in order to deceive the left-behind people, Satan would need an alternative explanation for how such a massive sudden disappearance of people could have happened, without appealing to divine intervention. Based on our culture today, I believe that the explanation which would be accepted by the greatest number of people would be a mass alien abduction.

However, such an explanation does no good if it is kept only in the realm of science fiction. For this lie to be believed, people would need to think that aliens actually exist, and that these aliens are able to travel to Earth. It turns out all of this groundwork is well underway.

Claims About Real-World UFO and Alien Activity

According to a study in 2017, 47% of people surveyed in 24 countries believe "in the existence of intelligent alien civilizations in the universe".1 Another survey of Americans in 2021 said that about 65% of those surveyed believed that intelligent life might exist on other planets, and 51% interpreted UFO activity to be likely evidence of intelligent life beyond Earth.2

Even more surprisingly, as far back as 2010, 20% of adults in 22 countries were surveyed as believing that aliens are already here and are living on Earth disguised as humans. This belief was strongest in India (45%) and China (42%).3

The theory of biological evolution from non-living matter to intelligent life is a critical part of making a belief in alien beings possible:

The secular concept of intelligent alien life is implicitly based on the premise that, if life evolved on the earth, it must have evolved elsewhere in the universe. Evolution requires millions of years of death and suffering as 'normal,' and is therefore opposed to the biblical account of the entrance of death [into the world] through man's sin.4

Yet if there is no creator God, and no fall into sin, then there is no need for Jesus to be our Savior, since there is no need to worry about God holding us accountable for not following his laws.5

Moreover, if advanced alien civilizations have survived for millions of years and have advanced to greater technological heights than humankind, then it only reinforces the irrelevance of God. In other words, "The aliens have got on quite well without Him, so who needs Him?" The "no need for a god" idea (at the least, no need for the supreme deity of Judeo-Christian religion) dominates most UFOlogy and science fiction stories.6

Thus, biblical creationists would say that the theories of biological evolution and the big bang are simply additional lies that many people alive today have believed. Put together, these lies allow people to not only believe that aliens exist, but also that a creator God does not exist.7

So already, we can see that the concept of intelligent alien life undermines a biblical worldview in many important ways.

Yet a belief in the possibility of aliens visiting earth is no longer limited to just fringe conspiracy theorists, new-age practitioners, or fans of science fiction. These news articles themselves are working to get the idea of aliens potentially visiting Earth via UFOs into the public consciousness, which could make it less surprising to left-behind people if the Antichrist were to announce that aliens were the cause behind millions of people disappearing all at once.

Such a declaration could not only appear to explain away the Rapture, but it might also offer the Antichrist a greater level of power.

Former US President Ronald Reagan once said, “I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world.”28 Evil aliens who just abducted all of the world's children would certainly meet that criteria.

This explanation might serve a second purpose if the Antichrist were to claim that raptured Christians were actually 'evil undercover aliens' who were recalled home from their subversive missions at the same time.

The threat that such aliens might reappear in the future could also inspire all the world's countries to join forces to attempt to fight Jesus and his heavenly armies at the second coming (Revelation 16:14-16, 19:11-16), if Jesus' second coming to set up his worldwide Millennial Kingdom were misportrayed by the Antichrist as the return of the evil aliens who are coming to conquer Earth and enslave its people.

Unfortunately, even the words of the Bible that Christians are strangers and foreigners (sometimes translated as 'aliens') in this world, and that Christians are citizens of a heavenly kingdom could be taken out of context to support such a conclusion (e.g., Hebrews 11:13, 1 Peter 2:11, Philippians 3:20-21).

The same is true for Jesus' words that he is not of this world but is from above (John 8:23), and that Jesus' kingdom is not of this world but from another place (John 18:36).

The Bible does say the Antichrist will slander God as well as "those who live in heaven" (Revelation 13:6), which would include raptured Christians. Falsely labelling raptured Christians as evil undercover alien agents would certainly count as slander.

If an enormous number of UFOs were to appear in the world's skies just after the Rapture and put on some fancy display, it might solidify this false explanation in many people's minds.

I wouldn't even be surprised if after the Rapture, the Antichrist might broadcast a worldwide press conference where he might introduce the world to 'good' aliens who he might say are prepared to help humanity by giving us even more advanced technology to counter the 'evil' alien threat.

This false explanation could perhaps also justify the state-sanctioned murder of new Christians who convert after the Rapture (Revelation 6:9-11, 12:17, 13:7, 20:4).

Evidence That UFOs And Aliens Are A Demonic Deception

However, it must be remembered that no matter how convincing this deception might appear, it is just that: a deception.

And how do we know that this is all a deception? Because the most likely explanation for aliens and UFOs is that they are actually demons.

There are three main lines of evidence for this claim which I have pulled out from the excellent and well-researched book by Gary Bates, titled Alien Intrusion: UFOs and the Evolution Connection, Updated and Expanded, (2010).

1. The Shape-Shifting Nature Of UFOs And Aliens

Bates documents that the appearance of UFOs seems to change according to humanity's expectations.

He says there were stories of people in ancient Rome and Greece who saw "fiery globes," "flying shields," or "flaming chariots" in the sky. There are also American Indian legends of "flying canoes." People in the 1880s claimed to see "airships" or flying "cigars" which when sketched looked very similar to early balloons and zeppelins which would begin to be developed only a few years later. After aircraft had been invented, UFOS took on the shapes of metallic flying disks or rockets, as well as triangles, boomerangs, and cones. Since the 1990s, many UFOs simply appear as colored lights.29

Thus, Bates proposes that "one cannot discount the possibility that the UFOs may be manifesting themselves in an understandable form of technology for the age."30

Yet these manifestations do not necessarily remain consistent even over the duration of one sighting. Bates cites several UFO researchers who note that these UFOs can change shape, suddenly appear and disappear, or merge together. This unexplainable behavior is moving some prominent UFO researchers toward an "interdimensional" explanation for UFOs, rather than the idea that UFOs are physical alien spacecraft from another planet.31

As one researcher puts it,

After 50 years of the modern UFO era we have literally millions of eyewitness accounts, hundreds of photographs, and in recent years many examples of video documentation, but we still do not have one single piece of hard physical evidence.... This suggests they are not physical, but spiritual manifestations. Even physical landing traces can be explained as a type of 'counterfeit creation,' or manipulation of mass and energy, not to mention shapeshifting and many UFOs' ability to make 90 degree turns [at incredible speeds] and other maneuvers that are considered to be impossible in the physical realm.32

This 'interdimensional' explanation for UFOs would put these researchers surprisingly close to the truth that these are indeed 'interdimensional' spiritual beings (a.k.a. demons and/or fallen angels) rather than real physical spacecraft or advanced technology.

Further proof that these 'aliens' are not truly beings from other planets comes from how, as with UFOs, the physical appearance of these 'aliens' also seems to be influenced by the expectations of the individuals who supposedly had close encounters with these beings:

Reports from countries other than America, and to a lesser though increasing extent Britain, feature an amazing variety of colorful creatures, often rooted in the cultural history of the area. But America's cultural dominance of the world is fast spreading into the realms of UFO experience and the "grays" [classic "gray"-looking aliens] have started to proliferate elsewhere.33

Bates verified this theory when, at one event where he was speaking, a man came up to him to tell him about his encounter with an extraterrestrial visitor. Before the man could tell Bates the details of what the visitor looked like, Bates asked, "Was the spaceman wearing a one-piece silver or white jumpsuit with a glass-type helmet?" The man was stunned and asked how Bates could have known that. Bates replied that he made a guess based on the man's current age, and the fact that the man claimed to be ten years old at the time of this encounter, which would have put it in the late 1960's. At this time, this sort of depiction of 'spacemen' was popular in trendy science-fiction shows, such as Lost in Space.34

This lack of consistency regarding the shape and size of these UFOs, and the changing appearances of these supposed 'alien' beings themselves, plus the UFOs' frequently-noted abilities to move faster and do maneuvers that no human technology can match makes a lot more sense if these are actually spiritual entities who are masquerading as aliens and UFOs in order to deceive humanity.

The supposed origin of these alien beings is another inconsistency that raises questions.

Some of the earliest 'alien contactees' claimed that the aliens told them they were from other planets from within our own solar system, including the moon, Jupiter, and Venus.35

Others claimed that aliens came from a mysterious planet with a highly elliptical orbit which causes it to cross into Earth's vicinity every 3600 years, although scientists have noted that life on such a planet would be impossible due to the vast changes in temperature it would undergo along this orbit.36

Later contactees claimed the aliens told them they had come from the Pleiades star system, or from Zeta Reticuli, or Sirius.37

Yet still other UFO researchers currently speculate that UFOs are from parallel universes or that they are beings which have "evolved to a new level of consciousness or spirituality and are able to communicate with us from distant galaxies".38

It is noted that this shift of aliens claiming they are coming from locations that are farther and farther away increasingly precludes anyone from testing these aliens' claims about their origins.39 Such a progression from aliens existing on nearby planets to distant star systems and then to alternative dimensions also parallels the themes found in the progression of science-fiction stories.40

Thus, Bates proposes that "despite their own claims to be an advanced or highly evolved alien species, the entire hypothesis that aliens come from other planets, star systems, or parallel universes appears to be an elaborate masquerade".41

Several high-profile UFO researchers agree.

Brad Steiger, who is one of the most prolific authors regarding UFOs and paranormal topics, has abandoned the idea that UFOs are actually physical beings coming to Earth from other planets. Instead, he says "we are dealing with a multidimensional paraphysical phenomenon which is largely indigenous to planet earth".42

The famous UFO researcher John Keel likewise says that

The UFOs do not seem to exist as tangible, manufactured objects. They do not conform to the natural laws of our environment. They seem to be nothing more than transmogrifications tailoring themselves to our abilities to understand. The thousands of contacts with the entities indicate that they are liars and put-on artists. The UFO manifestations seem to be, by and large, merely minor variations of the age-old demonological phenomenon.43

Another very well-respected researcher named Jacques Vallée notes that the experiences of 'alien abductees' are nearly identical to stories of people who have had occult experiences of interactions with fairies, goblins, elves, angels, and demons. These similarities include experiences of missing time, stories of being taken to a place where people are shown half-human and half-'other' children, sometimes claims of people having sexual intercourse with these supernatural beings, leaving physical marks on the abductee's body afterward, along with psychological changes in their minds, and sometimes mysterious medical problems.44

A senior bibliographer for the Library of Congress, Lynn E. Catoe, notes that,

A large part of the available UFO literature is closely linked with mysticism and the metaphysical. It deals with subjects like mental telepathy, automatic writing and invisible entities as well as phenomenon [sic] like poltergeist manifestations and possession. Many of the UFO reports now being published in the popular press recount alleged incidents that are strikingly similar to demonic possession and psychic phenomenon that have long been known to theologians and parapsychologists. 45

UFO researcher John Keel agrees that the study of alien encounters overlaps quite a bit with demonology:

Demonology is not just another crackpot-ology It is the ancient and scholarly study of the monsters and demons who have seemingly coexisted with man throughout history. Thousands of books have been written on the subject, many of them authored by educated clergymen, scientists, and scholars, and uncounted numbers of well-documented demonic events are readily available to every researcher. The manifestations and occurrences described in this imposing literature are similar, if not entirely identical, to the UFO phenomenon itself. Victims of demonomania (possession) suffer the very same medical and emotional symptoms as the UFO contactees.... The devil and his demons can, according to the literature, manifest themselves in almost any form and can physically imitate anything from angels to horrifying monsters with glowing eyes. Strange objects and entities materialize and dematerialize in these stories, just as the UFOs and their splendid occupants appear and disappear, walk through walls, and perform other supernatural feats.46

The Bible does say that Satan can appear as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), and God's holy angels can appear as regular human men (i.e., Genesis 19:1-5, Mark 16:5-6), so demons appearing as other sorts of beings would not be unbiblical.

But why would demons want to spend their time pretending to be aliens and UFOs? It turns out that the UFO and 'alien' phenomenon includes an agenda to undermine Christian beliefs and promote alternative religions, as we will see next.

2. The False Religious Claims Made By 'Alien Abductees'

A second line of evidence that 'aliens' are actually demons comes from how many people who end up having close encounters with these 'aliens' tend to come back telling very similar stories which appear to be inordinately focused on discrediting the truth of Christianity and the Bible.

A very common thread wound through such beliefs is that our ET 'space brothers' are more highly evolved, both physically and spiritually, than human beings, and that they are here to 'help us' and oversee our own 'evolution'.47

Many claim that the increased number of sightings, visitations, and abductions today is because the 'space brothers' have come to help us ascend to our next stage of enlightenment, or 'spiritual' evolution.48

Thus, researchers say that regarding those individuals who have had encounters with 'aliens',

The most telling effects occur on the experiencer's personalty and outlook on life or world view. It has been noticed by the majority of researchers that the person undergoes a type of religious transformation. They have also suggested that instigating a belief change in the abductee could be the reason for the whole enterprise.49

Part of this 'spiritual evolution' or 'religious transformation' seems to be giving up on traditional understandings of religion:

The denial of the Christ of the Bible and a reshaping of our traditional religious views is a very common thread that runs through UFOlogy. It seems incredible that seeming alien space travelers are so interested in Christian ideas.50

[The aliens] frequently claim that Jesus is not the Savior of all mankind but one of a few good religious leaders who have appeared on this earth, or even that he is a UFOnaut like them. All their efforts seem focused on undermining the Bible and the Christian view that Jesus is the Savior of mankind, and replacing it with the view that they are the saviors instead.51

Some alien contactees claim that aliens told them the Bible is inaccurate, has been incorrectly edited, or is full of "holes".52 Alternatively, some researchers speculate that the Bible was written with alien help, because the Bible speaks about things that technologically un-advanced people should not have known.53

Other UFO researchers attempt to reinterpret Biblical events and explain that these things were actually due to the activity of aliens, not God. 54

One New-Age husband and wife couple — Brad and Sherry Steiger — who have together written more books on UFOs than anyone else, claim that aliens have been pushing humanity toward greater intellectual and technological maturity, as well as guiding people toward "ever-expanding mental and spiritual awareness".55

A relatively consistent feature of the Steigers' prolific writings is that they advocate an almost complete reinterpretation of the Bible. They are not alone. It would be possible to fill volumes with a melange of creative ideas by contactees and New Age writers on how conventional religions formed as a result of extraterrestrial interference in human affairs. But, particularly, we see in such notions a continual reinterpretation of the Bible according to modern UFO/New Age beliefs.56

Regarding Jesus, it is claimed that he is not the Son of God but "an interstellar being who ascended to the next level",57 and that he did his miracles through the power channeled to him by alien spacecraft.58 Some claim that Jesus rose from the dead thanks to extraterrestrial technology.59 Some abductees even claim to have seen Jesus on board an alien spaceship.60

Thus, Bates says,

These beings seem intent on changing our traditional view of the world — in short, our view of reality. Achieving this goal is not as difficult as one might think. As we have repeatedly shown, the evolutionary world view, coupled with a diet of science fiction and a decline of traditional religious beliefs, has prepared the world for the arrival of the space brothers and their new religion.61

And what is this 'new religion'? We should not be surprised that it seems to primarily be New Age or occult beliefs.

It appears that these beings want to bring the world into a new order; that is, one great unifying religion under their auspices. Yet this religious agenda is not new. It is one that has been around for as long as mankind has been on the earth — this new religious order is supposed to embrace all faiths, but it is noticeably intolerant of biblical Christianity.62

After their experiences with the aliens, contactees are often "told that they had been chosen to spread the cosmic wisdom of the space brothers to all mankind. Even in the early days of such contacts, it was clear that the 'missions' given to contactees were to 'raise a cosmic awareness and consciousness,' sometimes by spearheading new religions".63

"Surveys have overwhelmingly shown that the majority of abductees subsequently develop an interest, and openly participate in New Age/occultic or Eastern-type mystical religions".64 Yet other studies note that many abductees already had prior interest and experiences in occult activities, and that their experiences with aliens tend to lead to even greater involvement in the occult, along with a strengthening of their New Age beliefs and psychic experiences.65

The modern New Age/UFO movement is happy to embrace those of other religious persuasions. It has roots in Buddhism, Shintoism, Hinduism, Taoism, Animism, and most other mystical religions that are steeped in the worship of spirits, deities, dead ancestors or reincarnated ones, and even the heavenly bodies. Christians are embraced, too, providing they are not too dogmatic about their faith and don't mind a reinterpretation of the Bible here and there.66

In terms of beliefs, the New Age movement can include those who believe that all of reality is really one, that everything is God and God is everything, and thus, that humanity is God or part of God. This may include beliefs that humans never really die, but are reincarnated, and that humans can create their own reality through altered states of consciousness. There is generally not just one source of absolute authority, but everything is relative. The highest goal of many New Age practitioners is to achieve a 'higher state' of consciousness, sometimes even [falsely] called "Christ-consciousness".67

Thus, it make some researchers wonder,

How credible is it to think that literally thousands of extraterrestrials would fly millions or billions of light-years simply to teach New Age philosophy, deny Christianity, and support the occult?68

From a Christian perspective,

New Age beliefs, which the space brothers endorse in a variety of forms, appear to be a counterfeit or substitute religion designed to keep people away from the knowledge of the true Creator God of the Bible. This is an immense effort on the part of the deceivers, and you may wonder why. It is clear that the 'space beings' believe in the God of the Bible or else they would not be expending so much effort to convince us otherwise. Simply stated, they are the adversaries of God.69

The 'aliens' even seem to have their own version of Christian end-times events which parallel what the Bible warns about the future, in which the 'aliens' warn of a coming time of tribulation for Earth which will be full of disasters.70

It is no secret that the space brothers have been threatening a global catastrophe — via our own carelessness or imposed by them — unless we change our ways. In some cases, they claim to have created humankind and therefore they have the right to do with us as they want. The way of salvation, it appears, is by following these new religious leaders into the New Age. And if the inhabitants of the earth do not change, then the select few who believe will be spared and saved.71

These 'alien' predictions even include a few different versions of a Rapture-like event. Yet even here, there is no consistency:

Aliens make predictions of an imminent period of global chaos and destruction. They say that a certain number of humans ... will be 'rescued' from the planet in order to continue the species, either on another planet or back on Earth after the destruction is over.72

UFO and New-Age proponent Brad Steiger claims that many people on Earth today are actually from alien worlds, or at least, that their 'souls' are from another world. He says these people may either be descendants of space beings who mated with humans to prepare the Earth for 'transformation', or else, are "Star People" who are here to help the aliens fulfill their task.73

However, since it is only true Christians who will be taken at the Rapture, these 'Star people' will clearly be left behind to have to go through the Tribulation.

Thus, instead of it being the UFO believers who will be rescued from the planet and taken to another world, some propose that instead it will be people who hold to supposedly 'old-fashioned' traditional religious ideas who will be removed from the planet. As the famous New Age author Barbara Marciniak writes:

The people who leave the planet during the time of Earth changes do not fit in here any longer, and they are stopping the harmony of Earth. When the time comes that perhaps 20 million people leave the planet at one time there will be a tremendous shift in consciousness for those who are remaining.74

These claims are not surprising if one main purpose of the demonic 'alien' deception is to provide an alternative explanation for the Rapture.

3. Alien Abductions Can Be Stopped In The Name Of Jesus

However, I believe the strongest piece of evidence that 'aliens' are actually demons is how there are many reports that alien abductions can be stopped if the would-be abductee invokes the name of Jesus.

Bates offers the testimony of a man called Bill D., who one night felt paralyzed in bed after seeing some strange lights over a nearby forest. Bill's room became full of mist or fog, and he felt he was being suspended above his bed, yet he couldn't move or scream. In his mind, he thought "Jesus, Jesus help me!", and he then had the sense that his words had hurt whatever entity was trying to hurt him, so it left. He fell back onto his bed, waking up his wife.75

Bates says,

It was the first time these experienced field investigators had ever heard of an abduction being stopped, and this man did it by just calling on the name of Jesus. Many researchers had previously recognized the spiritual nature of abductions, but no one had attempted to specifically research the spiritual aspects on their own merits."76

After publicizing this research, more Christians came forward to these researchers to report similar 'abduction experiences' that they had been unwilling to speak about to their churches, but which had also ended when they called out to Jesus. Thus,

As the number of cases mounted, the data showed that in every instance where the victim knew to invoke the name of Jesus Christ, the event stopped. Period. The evidence was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.77

However, the researchers noted that there seemed to be two different categories of Christians: ones who were truly born again (i.e., they had truly put their faith in Jesus Christ for their eternal salvation), and those who only claimed to be Christians because they went to church or had some generic belief in God.

The researchers noted that born-again Christians tended to be mostly ignored by 'aliens' unless the Christians decided to get involved with occult activities. In contrast, people who claimed to be Christians but did not identify as being born again experienced 'alien abductions' at the same rate as people from other religions, including Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, and agnostics.78

This fascinating result that aliens tend to leave born-again Christians alone, and that alien abductions can be stopped in the name of Jesus only make sense if what is happening is a spiritual phenomenon, not a physical one. Additionally, such behavior by 'aliens' (really demons) gives strong evidence for the truth of Christianity and the spiritual power of Jesus Christ.

The Recognized "Deceptive" Behavior of Aliens

If the above three points of evidence are not enough to demonstrate that 'aliens' are not what they seem, then it is worth noting that even UFO researchers themselves admit that aliens behave in rather 'deceptive' ways:

Why would supposedly intelligent and more 'evolved' advanced beings play this game of cat and mouse? On one hand, they provide us with enough evidence, such as sightings and burn marks on the ground, to suggest something is out there. Then with seeming stealth, they engage, interact with, and even abduct, humans in the dark of night, subjecting their captives to all manner of scientific examinations and strange sexual practices. And then they seem to act very coyly, as if not wanting to be seen at all. For most, the 'why' factor remains one of the great mysteries of UFOlogy.79

After all, if aliens truly did exist, then why not show up in a way that is irrefutable and visible to everyone?

Nothing would alter our world more than a mass landing in full view of TV cameras. However, the messages from the ETs themselves suggest that we are "not ready" for such a feat, not until a sufficient amount of contactees have instigated a new belief system. The "unreal" characteristics of UFOs, combined with the messages of the space brothers, suggest that these reported 'aliens' have something to hide. This is also a view almost universally endorsed by all serious UFOlogists.80

As one abductee-turned-researcher warns,

Before we allow ourselves to believe in the benevolence of the alien interaction, we should ask, do enlightened beings need to use the cover of night to perform good deeds? Do they need to paralyze us and render us helpless to resist? Do angels need to steal our fetuses? Do they need to [do terrible things to us and our children?] Are fear, pain, and deception consistent with high spiritual motives?81

Thus,

One would have good reason to be suspicious of their motives, despite their yarns about being here to help us. These beings say one thing and do another. They talk about doing good but they actually behave abominably. People are scarred, physically and emotionally, for the rest of their lives by such experiences.82

Other 'abductees' may experience a sort of "Stockholm syndrome" where they start to welcome these experiences,83 and are even told by the aliens that the awful and painful things the aliens supposedly do to them are for the abductee's own good.84

Therefore,

Although many pro-UFO researchers would justify the aliens' bad behavior as being simply matter-of-fact and business-like, it makes little sense, especially since their messages are often ones of salvation, claiming the high moral ground and condemning poor human behavior. If they are so technologically advanced and have been visiting the earth for hundreds, or even thousands, of years, why are they not friendlier or more reasonable in their behavior toward us? Surely they would understand our human nature and sensibilities, and seek our cooperation. And if they are genuinely concerned about our environment, why do they not use their technology to help us?85

All of this, put together, offers strong evidence that UFOs and 'aliens' are most likely demons in disguise. They are attempting to deceive humanity, not only in order to lead people into false religions or convince people of the theory of biological evolution, but ultimately, to provide a false explanation for the Rapture and the following seven-year Tribulation.

So What's Actually Going On?

So as shown, none of the supposed UFO or 'alien' encounters and abductions seem to hold up to in-depth rational analysis regarding what these 'aliens' and 'alien contactees' claim.

Rather, the aliens' behavior parallels other accounts of demonic and occult activity, and the ultimate proof that this is true is how 'alien abductions' can be stopped by calling out to Jesus Christ.

Therefore, we can safely say that these 'aliens' are not actually coming from other planets in our solar system or galaxy. But then how do we explain abductees' stories of what they have experienced?

Some 'abductees' working with UFO researchers may simply want attention, and so they tell the researcher what the researcher seems to want to hear.86 However, it is too simplistic to attribute this motive to every single case.

As an alternative hypothesis about what is actually happening to people who claim to have had close encounters with aliens, Bates suggests that many of these supposed alien abductions could actually be false memories planted through hypnosis into the minds of individuals during a state of sleep paralysis, which is halfway between being awake and being asleep. This makes sense, as most abductions are claimed to happen at night when the abductee is asleep in bed.87

Courts of law recognize that false memories can be generated through "regressive hypnosis" when a patient is in a suggestive state of mind.88

Many of today's health professionals also claim that hypnosis unlocks a person's imagination (not just the memory), and when imaginative events come to the surface, they can be mistakenly interpreted as memories.89

If a false memory is remembered as being traumatic, the person can experience the same level of stress and the same symptoms as someone who has actually been traumatized.90

Bates has an entire chapter dedicated to supporting his theory that demons may be inducing a state of hypnosis in 'alien abductee' victims in order to plant false memories into these people's minds,91 — especially people who are already susceptible either through having a prior belief in the existence of aliens,92 or the use of mind-altering substances, involvement in occult practices, or prior traumatic experiences.93

Based on how other types of hypnotism can also cause the sensation of missing time, Bates suggests that "the missing time aspect is the strongest clue that many of these ['alien'] experiences are being induced hypnotically".94

Any physical wounds, scars, or other marks left on 'abductees' bodies could also be added by the demons in order to leave supposed 'evidence' of the alien abduction,95 because the Bible shows that angels can physically interact with, harm, and even kill people (e.g., Genesis 19:11, 19:15-16, 2 Kings 19:35).

When combined with the biblical understanding of spiritual warfare, in which God, holy angels, and God's people contend against Satan and Satan's fallen angels (a.k.a., demons), such behavior on the part of 'aliens' fits very consistently within a biblical worldview.

An Explanation For The Mark Of The Beast?

Although it may seem a little 'out there', I also wonder if the lie that aliens are coming to earth to help humanity's evolution could be part of the Mark of the Beast, which the Antichrist will force everyone on earth to take during the Tribulation, or else they will be cut off from the world's financial system (Revelation 13:16-18).

After all, if the Mark of the Beast is simply a tattoo or microchip implant that contains a password or personal identification number that allows individuals access to a fully digital economy, then it is unclear why taking this "Mark" is such a terrible thing that doing so will condemn all who take it to eternal punishment (Revelation 14:9-11).

Jesus does warn that people cannot serve God and money at the same time (Luke 16:13), thus making the love of money a form of idolatry (Ephesians 5:5).

But if taking the Mark of the Beast is simply a case of idolatry, we know that idolatry can be forgiven. Many times in the Old Testament the Israelites worshipped false gods for a time, yet later turned back to worshipping the one true God after the intervention of godly prophets or kings.

The New Testament also records how people were forgiven of practicing idolatry once they put their faith in Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:9, 1 Corinthians 12:2).

Therefore, I have heard some scholars speculate that there will be something about taking the Mark which will make those who take it actually become unredeemable, just as angels become unredeemable once they sin:

There is no salvation for angels once they have rejected God and their heavenly abode. Only the physical descendants of the first Adam can be saved via the death and resurrection of the "last Adam." Some adherents to the angelic view [of the Nephilim] believe that once the human race had been genetically corrupted by angelic seed, they would have fallen outside of God's plan of salvation for the human race, since we need to be literal descendants of Adam (1 Cor. 15:21-22), the first human who brought sin into the world.96

Changing people's DNA so that they are no longer fully human may theoretically make such people unredeemable, if people need to be fully human just like Jesus was in order for his death to atone for their sins (Romans 5:12–19, Hebrews 2:14–17, 1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

Granted, it is not clear exactly what sort of a change or how great of a change in a person's DNA would be necessary to make one no longer fully human. It would have to be something different from typical genetic copying errors that occur naturally through human reproduction and lead to various genetic diseases, or the sorts of DNA mutations that can be caused by exposure to radiation, as the Bible never says that these things make people unredeemable.

Yet some evidence for the possibility that genetic manipulation of human DNA may be part of the Mark of the Beast could also come from how, although it is very controversial, there is a line of Christian thought which argues that before Noah's flood, Satan attempted to corrupt humanity's genes in order to make it impossible for God to send a fully-human Savior.

This attempt was made by having "sons of God" (fallen angels) mate with the "daughters of man" (human women), in order to create what are called the "Nephilim", which were half-human, half-demon hybrids who filled the world with violence (Genesis 6:1-8, 6:11-13).97 Bates notes that the term "sons of God" is consistently used to refer to angels throughout Scripture, as angels were created directly by God.98

This line of thought regarding the Nephilim was commonly held by the translators of the Greek Septuagint version of the Old Testament, as well as ancient Jewish interpreters, early Christian writers, and various Christian apologists even today.99

Thus, when the Bible says that Noah was "perfect" or "complete" in his "generations" (Genesis 6:9, KJV), it might mean more than just that Noah was the last God-fearing human on the planet.

It could also mean that his genes (and presumably, those of his wife, sons, and sons' wives, who also accompanied Noah on the ark), were the only ones left which had not been genetically corrupted by the fallen angels.100 This could explain God's need to wipe out everyone who had been genetically altered, and start over with Noah and his family to repopulate the world.

The most popular alternative view of the "sons of God" as simply being men descended from the 'righteous' line of Seth who married the "daughters of man" descended from the first murderer Cain does not explain why God would have to wipe out everyone on the planet except for Noah and his family.

As Bates says, "being born into an ungodly family by unbelieving parents does not mean that one is excluded from the promises of God that arise from faith in him".101

There were also times when the Israelites intermarried with pagan women, and although these women tended to lead the Israelites into idolatry, the solution was divorce, not death (Ezra 10:2-3).

So it does not seem that these explanations that the Flood was necessary because of typical human intermarriage make as much sense as the more controversial explanation above, as strange as it is.

Some alien researchers claim that 'aliens' are attempting to interfere with humanity's genes once again, which could make Jesus' warning about the end times being as in the days of Noah true in more ways than one (Matthew 24:37-39).102 Indeed, the creation of alien-human hybrids is claimed by some researchers to be one of the purposes of supposed 'alien abductions':

John Mack — a professor of psychiatry at Harvard who has studied stories of UFOs and alien abductions — speculates that the purpose of these aliens' apparently strange sexual experiments on abductees is "to produce a hybrid species which — the abductees are sometimes told — will populate the earth or will be there to carry evolution forward, after the human race has completed what it is now doing, namely the destruction of the earth as a living system".103

Some researchers speculate that,

Their purpose is to create human/alien hybrids for the purpose of transforming human consciousness; that is, to alter our own perception of ourselves as a species. This 'transforming' view is common among abduction researchers and UFOlogists who, over the years, have interviewed thousands of 'abductees,' noting that this 'breeding program' seems to be rampant. Many abductees also claim that the aliens themselves have told them such things. These common accounts imply that interfering aliens have been 'fiddling' with our genes from the beginning and that we might be the playthings of 'superior' races. Such a program, if true, would certainly alter mankind's view of itself.104

This makes me wonder if, after the Rapture, the Antichrist might claim that 'good' aliens told him that humanity needs to 'evolve' itself in order to survive the upcoming disastrous "earth changes" (a.k.a., the Tribulation).

The Antichrist could even claim to be a human-alien hybrid himself, and say that by taking his "Mark", humans will be genetically changed to become superior like he himself is. His 'superiority', or even his 'immortality' could be demonstrated by how he survives an apparently-fatal head wound from a sword (Revelation 13:3-4).

In such a way, the Antichrist's lie would be very much like the lie Satan first told Adam and Eve, that if they did what Satan said and ate the forbidden fruit, they would not die but would become "like God" (Genesis 3:4-5).

As bizarre as it might all seem to people today, such an explanation makes a lot of sense not only of God's potential rationale for causing the worldwide Flood, but it also provides an explanation for why taking the Mark of the Beast will be such a terrible thing that all who take it will become instantly and unchangeably worthy of facing eternal destruction (Revelation 14:9-11).

Final Comments

Although the topic is very strange and may initially appear completely un-credible, I felt the need to write this blog post in order to warn about what I feel will be the most likely false explanation for the Rapture, which will also predispose the world into following the Antichrist and taking his Mark of the Beast.

Of course, some might say that this elaborate alien and UFO deception will not be necessary, because people will simply follow the Antichrist due to his charisma and the False Prophet's fake miracles, as well as the Antichrist's apparently 'miraculous' recovery from a deadly head wound.

However, if this was all that was necessary, then there would be much less reason for Satan to bother having his demons masquerade as aliens for the last hundred years or so, or for these demons to go through the effort of deceiving everyone who claims to have interacted with 'aliens' into thinking they were interacting with real beings from other planets.

Of course, there may be additional deceptions which Satan has in his back pocket to make use of during the Tribulation. For example, we could think of the message of the worldwide ecumenical movement which claims that all religions really worship the same God, or the popular idea discussed among some end-times scholars that the Antichrist will claim to be the Islamic Mahdi.

However, I believe the alien explanation would be most suited to the majority of non-religious left-behind people of the world. Furthermore, as seen earlier, this explanation could also appeal to left-behind religious people of all sorts, through the inclusive 'New age' religion the 'aliens' are trying to convince humanity to adopt.

Whereas trying to convince previously non-religious people to adopt a brand new religion, or to persuade religious people to change their deeply-held beliefs, only by appealing to supernatural or spiritual 'evidence' would likely be much more difficult for Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet to do.

I wonder if even the left-behind elements of the Roman Catholic church might fall in line with such an 'alien' explanation for the Rapture:

As far back in 2008, the Jesuit director of the Vatican's observatory said that Christians should consider any potential intelligent alien life to be “extraterrestrial brothers,” although these aliens may not need redemption like humans do, if they did not fall into sin as humans did.105

Alternatively, Pope Francis has said that if aliens arrived at the Vatican and wanted to be baptized, he would do it.106 Provided that this was not just a humorous quip to highlight the point of his sermon, it would show that the Pope himself is open to the theoretical possibility of alien life.

These hints that the Roman Catholic Church appears to be open to the possibility of intelligent alien life are interesting, given that many end-times commentators suspect that after the Rapture, the left-behind, apostate elements of the Roman Catholic Church may be what forms the core of a worldwide false religion which is symbolized by the 'whore of Babylon' in Revelation chapter 17, similar to how God depicted the then-idolatrous Israelites as being a female prostitute in Ezekiel chapter 16.107

Regardless of exactly how this all plays out during the Tribulation, I hope this is enough proof that if millions of people have suddenly disappeared, the skies are filled with UFOs, and a charismatic leader comes on the world stage who endorses the idea that 'good' aliens are here to unify humanity, correct our 'mistaken' religions, and even help humanity physically 'evolve' into superhumans, that you will know that it is all a demonic, Satanic deception.

Most importantly, no matter what the Mark of the Beast actually turns out to be,

If, for any reason, someone says that you can't buy or sell without opting into some system that requires a mark in/on your right hand or forehead, and/or someone tells you to worship someone who isn't Jesus returning in the clouds wearing a robe dipped in blood, sitting on a white horse, surrounded by the armies of heaven (Revelation 19:11-14), in a display that will be like lightning flashing from the east to the west (Matthew 24:27, Luke 17:24), DON'T DO IT. Even if it costs you your life.

And if you're reading this after the Rapture has happened, and if everything I've warned of above turns out to be correct, or even kind of close to what's actually happening, then I hope this will be proof that Christians were telling the truth. We were not abducted by aliens, and we were not undercover evil alien agents who stole the world's children.

Actually, we were rescued from Earth in order to not have to face God's judgment which will be coming upon the unbelieving world (Revelation 3:10).

Yet even now, you can still be eternally saved by putting your faith in Jesus Christ alone. Then, no matter what happens during the next seven years, you can have the peace and joy of knowing that one day you will have eternal life in a new Heaven and New Earth where there will be no more suffering or death (Revelation 21:1, 21:4).

If you happen to have to die for Jesus because you reject the Mark of the Beast or refuse to worship the Antichrist or the Image of the Beast, you can also look forward to helping rule the world with Jesus for at least a thousand years after he returns to Earth at the end of the seven-year Tribulation (Revelation 20:4).

And of course, if you're reading this before the Rapture occurs, but you have not trusted in Jesus alone for your eternal salvation, this is definitely the moment to do so, because based on all the signs of the end times that we're seeing, the Rapture could happen literally any day now.

For example, it is claimed that aliens helped create humanity, rather than God (Gary Bates, Alien Intrusion, 289), that Sodom and Gomorrah was a nuclear blast caused by alien visitors (Bates, 200, 285), that aliens abducted Enoch (Bates, 201), that the 'sons of God' who intermarried with human women in Genesis chapter 6 were aliens interbreeding with a lesser form of humanity to create modern humans (Bates, 207, 380-381), and even that aliens caused the worldwide flood of Noah (Bates, 93). Others go so far as to say that God is an extraterrestrial who was made immortal through advanced technology, and that heaven is "merely a supertechnological society" which has overcome sickness and death (Bates, 94, 140). As Bates says, "UFO literature is riddled with biblical references.... Many of the ETs' messages have paralleled biblical events, stories, and prophecies. At the same time, the biblical texts are often misquoted and misrepresented. Members of the pro-UFO lobby, such as von Daniken and Sitchin, have twisted the Bible to read into it what they want to believe. This is deceitful. The original bible authors — intelligent people in their own right — should be fairly represented and their writing portrayed accurately — not with the biased view that they must have been primitive and ignorant because they lived long ago" (Bates, 238).

Furthermore, born-again Christians can also properly be called "sons of God" (Romans 8:14, Galatians 3:26), because we have become new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Yet as Bates argues in his book, such a possibility does not make theological sense, it would seem unjust for God to punish un-fallen aliens on some distant planet for humanity's sin, which brought death and decay into the entire universe (Romans 8:19-23) (Gary Bates, Alien Intrustion, 376). And as noted earlier, the aliens who interact with humans clearly do not seem to be behaving righteously, if they are lying about who they are and where they come from, and how they mostly cause suffering and harm to the humans they interact with.

  • 107. It appears that this worldwide false religion will be responsible for the persecution of true Christians during at least part of the Tribulation (Revelation 17:1-5, 6:9-11), and will dominate or control the Antichrist's government until this religion is destroyed by the Antichrist and his ten subordinate kings (Revelation 17:15-18). This will likely occur at the halfway point of the Tribulation, when the Antichrist pronounces himself to be God in the rebuilt Jewish temple (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4), and demands all worship for himself through his False Prophet and the idolatrous Image of the Beast (Revelation 13:5-9, 13:13-15).
